Contemporary art gallery based in Kyiv. Our work is driven by a rigorous curatorial programming and aspiration for a legitimate art market for Ukrainian artists. Founded in 2018 in Kyiv by independent curators Lizaveta German and Maria Lanko and a Swiss film director Marc Wilkins, it is focused on establishing a reasonable market appearance for up-and-coming Ukrainian artists.
The gallery works with artists who are underrepresented nationally, with an ambition to promote their work worldwide. We represent Lucy Ivanova, Katya Buchatska, Petro Ryaska, Denis Salivanov, Anna Zvyagintseva, Dasha Kuzmich among others. In addition to that, The Naked Room collaborates with several established artists and/or their families to procure recognition of their early work and archives, Pavlo Makov, Viktor Marushchenko and Alexander Chekmenev among them.
In 2019 the gallery founded Artist Estate of Oleg Holosiy, the first institution of this type in Ukraine, to work with the artist’s legacy who passed away nearly 30 years ago. In 2021 The Naked Room together with Montblanc founded Artists Prize, a professional recognition for artists awarded by artists. In 2021 the gallery was selected to represent Ukraine at La Biennale di Venezia 2022 with the project Fountain of Exhaustion. Acqua Alta by Pavlo Makov.
In 2022 Internet Investment group joined The Naked Room as partner.
